Description


The Mold Process Engineer role is a contract position for 6-12 months. It is a "hands-on" technical role focused on developing, optimizing and sustaining high-precision injection molding processes. You will serve as the technical lead for new program launches, ensuring that our manufacturing operations meet the highest standards of quality, efficiency and cost-effectiveness.


Key Responsibilities 


- Process Optimization: Develop and refine scientific molding processes to improve cycle times, minimize waste and ensure "zero-defect" production. 

- New Product Introduction (NPI): Lead molding efforts for new programs, including DFM (Design for Manufacturing) analysis, PFMEA reviews and PPAP submissions. 

- Troubleshooting & Technical Support: Diagnose and resolve complex molding defects and machine performance issues using Root Cause Analysis (RCA). 

- Tooling Collaboration: Work closely with the tool shop on mold design, maintenance schedules and refurbishment recommendations based on tooling history and capability studies.

- Quality & Compliance: Implement and monitor SPC (Statistical Process Control) charts and lead process validations (IQ/OQ/PQ). 

- Mentorship: Train and mentor process technicians and operators on scientific molding methodologies and SOPs.


Required Qualifications 


- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Plastics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field. 

- Experience: 3–7 years of practical experience in an injection molding environment (automotive or medical device experience preferred) with knowledge of mold tooling design.

- Technical Skills: Deep knowledge of Scientific Molding principles (RJG certification is a plus). 

--Proficiency with simulation tools (e.g., Moldflow) and CAD software. 

--Strong understanding of polymer rheology and mold thermodynamics. 

- Soft Skills: Analytical problem-solver with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced, agile environment. Excellent communication skills for customer and vendor interaction.
